Busy Consett pharmacy sold to first-time buyers

Leadgate Pharmacy, an established community pharmacy in Leadgate, County Durham, has been purchased by the newly-formed company, Rukara, which is owned by a pair of pharmacists.
Located adjacent to a busy health centre, the pharmacy has been owned by Newcastle-based group operator, Farah Chemists, since 2010.
Its owners decided to sell to concentrate on their five Newcastle branches.
Following a confidential sales process with Karl Clezy at Christie & Co, and with funding sourced through Craig Dickson at Christie Finance, it has been purchased by Rukara.
Manjusha Gunti, co-owner at Rukara, said: “As pharmacists, me and Bhanu have always been passionate about community health and the vital role pharmacies play in people’s daily lives.
“By acquiring this pharmacy, my goal is to create a welcoming, patient-centred environment where individuals can access trusted advice, reliable services, and innovative health solutions close to home.
“Following the acquisition, we have plans to expand the range of services offered, including flu and travel vaccinations, health checks, and digital prescription services.
“The focus will be on modernising operations while maintaining the personal touch that local patients value.”
Clezy added: “We received several offers for this pharmacy, as, although it was trading successfully, it still has potential to trade better by carrying out more additional healthcare services.”
Leadgate Pharmacy was sold for an undisclosed price.
