Buyer moves into Welsh care market with purchase of Brecon home

  • 16th July 2025

Morgannwg House care home in Brecon, South Wales, has been sold to Hapus Care Group, an expanding operator which owns 12 homes.

In its first acquisition in South Wales, Hapus Care Group will take over the nursing home, which was established over 20 years ago and is registered for up to 20 residents.

The home occupies an impressive 20-bedroom, four-storey, Grade II-listed property with a purpose-built extension to the rear.

Originally a school, the nursing home has a redundant gymnasium in the grounds, which could be developed for a further 30 bedrooms.

Located within the centre of Brecon, it is just a short walk from the main high street and local amenities.

It has been owned by the family-run business, Sentimental Care, for the last 20 years, and was brought to market as they were looking to scale back and concentrate on their other home in the West Country.

Oliver McCarthy, director – Caof care at Christie & Co, which handled the sale, said: “This will be our second successful sale for our client, Tazmina Ellis, who will remain in the sector and concentrate on her other business interests.”

Morgannwg House was sold for an undisclosed price.
