Care home in Devonshire town sold after 20-year ownership

Christie & Co has announced the sale of Furzeham Lodge Care Home in Torbay, Devon.
Furzeham Lodge is a well-established, profitable care home registered for up to 22 residents and occupying a large, detached, modified property that enjoys a quiet location adjoining a municipal park in the coastal Devonshire town of Brixham.
The home has been owned by David and Angela Baker and Howard and Sarah Dennis for over 20 years.
They decided to sell as part of their plans to scale back their involvement in the sector in advance of their retirement.
Following a confidential sales process with Simon Harvey at Christie & Co, it has been purchased by Buckley & Buckley Homes, which also owns Tudor Court in Torbay.
Harvey said: “Having been involved in the Bakers’ and Dennis’ growth a couple of decades ago, we were delighted to have assisted them with the sale of the home and, at the same time, the ongoing expansion for the new owners, Joel and Nikki Buckley.
“This sale is further evidence of the significant demand that continues to exist for well-run, profitable care homes of virtually all sizes and styles across the South West which, currently, shows no sign of letting up.”
Furzeham Lodge was sold for an undisclosed price.
