Closed Isle of Wight care home sold to Hampshire-based operator

Blackwater Mill, a former care home in Newport on the Isle of Wight, has been sold to a subsidiary of English Oak Care Homes, a family-run group with four care homes in Hampshire.
Blackwater Mill was formerly registered as a care home for 60 people, benefitting from 60 ensuite bedrooms over three floors, a number of lounges, a dining room, and a conservatory.
Located on a plot of just over three acres, there are mature gardens and a large pond, which attracts a variety of wildlife.
Following a confidential sales process with Charles Phillips at Christie & Co, a sale has been concluded to a subsidiary of English Oak Care Homes.
And, once the property has been thoroughly refurbished and upgraded, the aim is to reopen it as a care home for the benefit of Isle of Wight residents.
Stephen Geach, chairman of English Oak Care Homes, said: “Blackwater Mill is a beautiful site with enormous potential and we look forward to breathing new life into the building and creating a warm, welcoming environment for residents and staff alike.
“English Oak is a progressive family-run business and the addition of this care home to our company demonstrates our desire to grow the business and improve elderly care provision.”
Phillips adds: “Having sold Blackwater Mill to the outgoing owner in 2008, I was delighted to be asked to assist them with a sale.
“We undertook a comprehensive marketing campaign and were very pleased to have completed the sale to English Oak.
“The sale of this property demonstrates that there is great demand for both trading and closed care homes throughout the South.”
Blackwater Mill was sold for an undisclosed price.
