Parklands Care Homes has announced plans to expand care capacity at Eilean Dubh care home in Fortrose in response to growing demand for places.
The home, which opened in 2021 and was recently graded 5 (very good) by the Care Inspectorate, currently has an extensive waiting list.
To help meet local demand, Parklands has submitted plans to The Highland Council to add four new bedrooms to the existing building, facing Ness Road.
The adjacent greenfield site will remain untouched.
The plans also include four additional parking spaces within the existing car park.
The total investment is estimated at around £500,000.
Elsewhere in the Highlands, Parklands is also responding to growing demand in Tain and Grantown.
Plans have recently been lodged to create 12 additional bedrooms at Innis Mhor care home in Tain, and 10 more at Lynemore in Grantown-on-Spey.
Meanwhile, Parklands’ new 58-bed care home in Inverness, Pittyvaich, is on track to welcome its first residents in mid June.
The building is due to be handed over by contractor, Capstone Construction, at the end of May, with fit-out to follow and the first residents expected to move in from 16 June.
Parklands’ managing director, Ron Taylor, said: “We are seeing strong demand for care services across the Highlands, and we’re doing what we can to meet that urgent need by creating an additional 84 places in Inverness, Tain, Fortrose, and Grantown.
“This investment will ensure that more older people can receive high-quality care close to their families and communities.”
