The life sciences sector is contributing to a boom in construction activity in London.
According to research from Glenigan, the building sector in the capital is poised for a resurgence, with office and life sciences projects showing a particularly-robust pipeline.
Glenigan’s construction industry intelligence has identified a number of major life science projects set to give the industry a boost.
For example, work is due to commence this summer on the Department of Health’s proposed £182m Whitechapel Life Sciences District in east London, which has detailed planning permission.
In addition, a £170m life sciences office in King’s Cross also has indicative permission and, once formally confirmed, construction should also start this summer.
“With investors’ appetite growing, the prospects for the capital look set to progress,” said a spokesman.
