Logan Construction wins three project awards for Chelsea & Westminster NHS Trust
Logan Construction is working on three projects to enhance the built environment and deliver new services for Chelsea & Westminster NHS Foundation Trust.
In the first project, valued at £3.4m, the team will undertake alterations and adaptations to the Marjory Warren Block on the ground floor of West Middlesex University Hospital.
The work will create a new 24-bed stroke ward, along with additional facilities such as ancillary accommodation and a gymnasium.
New MEPH services will also be installed to suit the new area function and partitions and fixtures will be put in place to match the new layout.
The team has been on site since October and the project is due for completion in April.
The work has been designed by AHP Architects & Surveyors, with Christopher Smith Associates LLP as quantity surveyor.
Dean Street improvements
The second project will see Logan Construction modify and adapt existing office space on the fourth floor and basement of the trust’s 56 Dean Street facility to create new consultation rooms.
The trust recently acquired 37 Dean Street to accommodate the clinic’s administrative function and, although the building has been finished to the new CatA+ standard, alterations will be made to the layout and services to suit the revised occupancy and ancillary rooms.
The project has been designed by Ansell & Bailey with Christopher Smith Associates LLP as quantity surveyor.
Finally, in a project valued at £950,000, work will be undertaken to replace three Transtherm Adiabatic Cooler Units situated at roof level at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
The work will see the installation of nine new units, which are expected to enhance the cooling system and improve the overall efficiency of the hospital.
Cooling down
The project is taking place on an extremely-congested site, which poses unique challenges.
The site is surrounded by several buildings, including residential apartments to the west, residential properties to the south, and high street businesses and residential properties to the north, which necessitates the need for careful co-ordination and planning.
Completion of the project is due in the coming weeks, with designs by Nick Perry Associates.
A spokesman for Logan Construction said: “For all our projects, we understand the importance of delivering high-quality projects safely, on time and within budget, and our teams are committed to achieving these objectives.
“We will continue to work closely with the hospital and other stakeholders to ensure these projects are delivered successfully.”
