Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust has agreed a 15-year unbroken lease to secure just over 13,000sq ft of new outpatient clinical space and office accommodation at the multi-award-winning Dean Clough destination in Halifax.

The space provides state-of-the-art facilities for NHS community services in Calderdale, supporting its amputee, bladder and bowel, lymphoedema, and podiatry outpatient clinics as well as community therapies, urgent community response (UCR), and district nursing hubs.

Community services at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust occupy 5,722sq ft on the ground floor as well as 7,511sq ft on the 4th floor of the recently-renovated Bowling Mill at Dean Clough. And consolidated services are in the process of moving from Beechwood Medical Centre and Calderdale Royal Hospital.

Jenny Clark, director of operations for community services at the trust, said: “We are delighted to secure new accommodation in this fantastic space at Dean Clough.

“Bowling Mill provides us with a fantastic environment to better support the needs of our patients with purpose-designed spaces for therapies in the heart of the Halifax community.

“The refurbishment makes the most out of the original Victorian mill building features and availability of natural light, which can boost mood, and improve the wellbeing and experience of patients and colleagues.”

Jeremy Hall, chairman and managing director at Dean Clough, added: “We are delighted to work with the great team at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust to see these fantastic facilities establish at Dean Clough.

“The mills reflect our community’s history, embodying the qualities of sustainability and longevity and the establishment of the NHS here reinforces the connection and relevance of the mills while adding to the wonderful community at Dean Clough.

“Dean Clough has the enviable combination of a great location, historical interest, engaging public realm, great retail and leisure amenities, and fosters a sense of place, born and rooted in our community.

“Through the ongoing investment to regenerate these magnificent mills to create characterful, efficient workspaces for the 21st Century, we maintain a best-practice approach to their reuse, supporting important ESG values with the indisputable carbon benefits of repurposing buildings.”

Ben Johnson Interiors completed the fit out of the space while Cushman & Wakefield, Savills, and Walker Singleton are appointed agents to market accommodation to let at Dean Clough.
