A new private healthcare facility has opened in Norwich.

Following a £1.4m investment, Spire Ella May Barnes Clinic will provide people across Norfolk with faster access to a range of outpatient services.

Located within Norwich Research Park, the clinic offers a dedicated eye centre, outpatient physiotherapy unit and gym, as well as neurology, cardiology, psychology, respiratory, diabetes, endocrinology, pain medicine, colorectal, and private GP services.

The specialist facility will provide capacity for over 1,000 outpatient appointments per week, for both NHS and private patients.

Special focus has been given to ensure the comfort and safety of patients within the warm and inviting environment of Spire Ella May Barnes Clinic. Clinical areas comprise 10 spacious outpatient consulting rooms, an ophthalmic laser room, ophthalmic nurses’ assessment room, and physiotherapy gym.

The clinic is an extension of the outpatient services available at Spire Norwich Hospital, providing an increase to the existing hospital capacity to deliver further outpatient appointments across a range of specialties.

The opening of the new facility will also enable improved services at Spire Norwich Hospital with future developments being planned.

Spire Ella May Barnes Clinic is also the new base for administration and medical secretarial employees who were previously situated at the main Spire Norwich Hospital site.

The clinic is part of a network of new clinics being developed by Spire Healthcare to complement its 38 hospitals across England, Scotland and Wales.

Spire Abergele Clinic in North Wales opened in February this year, and Spire Harrogate Clinic is due to welcome its first patients later in December.

Caroline Fox, hospital director at Spire Norwich Hospital, said: “After many months of planning we are delighted to announce the opening of our state-of-the-art facility, Spire Ella May Barnes Clinic.

“We have made a huge investment into our outpatient services to offer more patients easy access to a wide range of treatments and experienced consultants.

“The new, modern setting offers a premium service in a secure environment.”
