Steel-signing ceremony held at Newgate Street Health & Wellbeing Hub

  • 25th September 2025

Tilbury Douglas has celebrated a key milestone in the delivery of the Newgate Street Health & Wellbeing Hub with a steel signing ceremony.

The ceremony, attended by representatives from Tilbury Douglas, Bassetlaw District Council, and the NHS, marked the completion of the steel frame installation, a significant step in bringing the £8.5m scheme closer to completion.

Procured through the Pagabo Framework, the project will transform a long-vacant Bassetlaw District Council site into a modern, purpose-built health and wellbeing hub.

Once operational, it will be leased to the NHS to enhance healthcare services for local residents.

Designed by AnotherKind Architects, the hub will sit alongside the Newgate Medical Practice and provide state-of-the-art facilities, including 24 consulting rooms, three treatment rooms, and dedicated administration and support spaces.

The development addresses the challenges of the existing medical centre, which is constrained by limited capacity and outdated design.

In line with Tilbury Douglas’ commitment to social value, the scheme is already generating employment and training opportunities.

A construction apprentice has joined the project, with a year-out placement planned for the summer, ensuring wider benefits for the local economy and workforce.

Paul Ellenor, regional director for Yorkshire and the North East at Tilbury Douglas, said: “The steel-signing ceremony represents an important milestone in the delivery of the Newgate Street Health & Wellbeing Hub.

“It symbolises the collaborative effort between Tilbury Douglas, our partners, and the client to create a modern facility that will deliver lasting improvements in healthcare provision.

“We are committed to delivering infrastructure that brings value to communities today, and for future generations.”
