Work begins on Aberdeen care home
Work is under way on the development of Meallmore’s new £20m Pitfodels Wood care home in Aberdeen, which will open next year.
The four-storey, 65-bed facility will provide elderly care, including care for those with dementia and related conditions.
And it will offer a cinema, café, private dining room, a beauty salon and landscaped gardens.
There will also be communal balconies within shared areas and private balconies from some of the bedrooms.
The home will create 80 full-time equivalent jobs including nurses, care assistants, hotel services staff, facilities operatives, administrators, and managers.
Construction work is being undertaken by Clark Contracts and a sod-cutting ceremony to mark the start of works took place on 28 March attended by Meallmore’s property director, Michael Gillespie, and representatives from Clark Contracts.
Gillespie said: “Set in beautiful ground,s and using impressive architectural attributes, Pitfodels Wood is going to be a stunning place to live.
“It will provide the highest-quality facilities for our residents, offering personalised care to meet personal needs, empowering individuals to maintain their desired levels of independence.”
Michael Scanlan, director at Clark Contracts, added: “We are excited to be working with Meallmore to deliver this major new development, which will provide first-class facilities for residents.”
