Work begins on Trowbridge Integrated Care Centre

  • 2nd December 2024

Development of the £16m Trowbridge Integrated Care Centre has begun opposite the town’s community hospital.

The building is being developed by NHS Property Services and funded by NHS England, the Department of Health and Social Care, NHS Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Integrated Care Board, and Wiltshire Council, with completion expected at the end of next year.

As well as replacing the town’s community hospital, the new facility will provide local people with an additional primary care service, more same-day urgent care provision, and space to support mobile diagnostic units.

Andrew Strange, estates strategy lead for NHSPS in the South, said: “It’s fantastic that this exciting project has been given the green light, and we are very pleased to be able to support the construction and delivery of this super integrated care centre, which we know will enable our NHS colleagues across different specialisms to work more collaboratively and deliver excellent care in a fantastic, state-of-the-art environment at the heart of the community.”

News that the Trowbridge facility has been given the go-ahead follows NHSPS’ delivery of its ‘sister’ site, Devizes Health Centre.

Services that will be housed in the new centre include maternity care, physiotherapy, podiatry, and community-based mental health support.

Moving services from the current Trowbridge Community Hospital to the new site will be phased as part of a planned relocation process.

The development is being constructed by Tilbury Douglas.
