CHP chairman to remain in post

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has confirmed that Catherine Mason will continue as chairman of Community Health Partnerships (CHP) until 31 August 2027.

Her reappointment follows ministerial approval on behalf of the Secretary of State and extends her tenure for a final term of two years.

Catherine joined CHP as chairman in September 2019.

She said: “I am delighted to continue in the role. It has been a privilege to lead the Board since 2019 and support the company through some significant periods of change.

“I am passionate about its purpose to enable more care in local communities andI look forward to continuing as chairman in leading the Board to deliver services to the NHS.”

CHP has also recently appointed a former director general of the House of Commons to its Board.

Ian Ailles has joined as a non-executive director.

Mason said: “Ian brings a wealth of experience. from finance and an executive career working in both the public and private sectors.

“Combined with his extensive non-executive work, Ian will be a valuable addition to CHP’s Board.

“He joins at a significant time of reform for the NHS.

“As a DHSC-owned company, CHP provides modern, well-maintained community-based health infrastructure for patient care.

“As we continue to support the NHS deliver more services in the community and enable neighbourhood health services, Ian will be a great asset to our board and I look forward to working with him.”

Ailles replaces out-going non-executive director, Bob Alexander, and will become the chairman of CHP’s Audit and Risk Committee for the next three years.

He said: “As a purpose-driven and values-led organisation I can see it adds real value to the NHS, its patients, staff, and communities and I look forward to sharing my experience from different sectors and companies to support it in its ambitions.”

Ailles works as a non-executive director in a number of organisations across health, education, and housing.

He is a qualified chartered accountant starting work for Ernst & Young, later working both in the City of London and New York in Investment Banking.

The vast majority of his executive career was spent working in consumer travel and leisure across over 60 countries for a range of listed companies.

His final executive role was in the public sector as the first ever director general of the House of Commons.
